Nil is a chisled, serif font that is currently a work-in-progress, and is the display font on this site. It features contours that aim to mimic the strokes of a broad-nibbed pen, with rounded variations along the way.
This is my second attempt at creating a typeface, and in its current iteration, only the Black weight exists. The end goal is to have a family of weights with matching italics.

Nil's name means nothing, literally. It started as sketch book doodle and I felt that its name should be representative of how it began, an idea that came from nothing.
The sketch that stood out to me was the "n." It had this angular structure to it that I thought would be interesting to build out.

When creating a new typeface, I like to adhere to rules that I establish very early on. This helps tremendously with keeping a uniform visual language that ties the letterforms together.
Nil's primary characteristics are sharp, angled cuts on otherwise curved contours, slightly curved inkwells, and beefy serifs.
